Our 3 year football project
Our football poject is funded by the Football Foundation for a period of 3 years. The main aim of the project is to introduce regular weekly football coaching that will be sustainable in the long term.
At the end of the project we will have a team of local residents who are qualified and experienced football coaches.
At the start of the project, residents worked alongside 2 professional coaches and began training for their FA Coach Level One qualification. Rod, Phil, Riki and Steve successfully completed the course. Steve has proved to be a particularly talented coach and has taken greater responsibility as the project developed.
Steve coaches our under 14s 5-a-side team who have won the Hampshire County 5-a-side competition, winning every game for 2 years in a row.
In February 2009, our under 14s team represented Hampshire in the South East regional finals, and performed well against team from throughout the South East including London, Essex and Berkshire .
In year 2 of the project, 2 residents will have the opportunity to complete their FA Coach level 2 training and another 2 residents will have the opportunity to complete their FA Coach Level 1.
